The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), a conservative Christian watchdog group, has launched a legal campaign to fight what it calls “Buddhist meditation” in American public schools. The group takes issue with the secular mindfulness programs that have been implemented in some schools, in which audio recordings guide students through stress-reduction practices. The organization says that mindfulness practices “equate to Buddhism.”

SRE teachers from across NSW came together at Parliament House on the 22nd of November 2018 to celebrate the work done over 2018. Buddhist Council fo NSW Special Religious Education Manager, Melissa, attended the celebration and was amazed by the talent and commitment shown.

A massive information campaign about “Special Religious Education” (SRE) aimed at parents launches across NSW this week. Over 100 buses, 760,000 leaflets and 80 radio stations will carry the info campaign to parents at more than 2100 state schools.
